American Council of the Blind
The American Council of the Blind strives to improve the well-being of blind and visually impaired people by elevating the social, economic, and cultural levels of blind people and by improving educational and rehabilitation facilities and opportunities.
American Foundation for the Blind (AFB)
AFB seeks to expand possibilities for people with vision loss by broadening access to technology; elevating the quality of information and tools for professionals who serve people with vision loss; and promoting independent and healthy living for persons with vision loss by providing them and their families with relevant and timely resources.
Blindness Resource Center
The Blindness Resource Center offers many resources, including more than forty links to other websites, for people with visual disabilities.
Ron Marriage Blind Links

A portal site with links to online information for blind persons about such topics as adaptive technology, advocacy and training, books and magazines, Braille, Veterans' issues, employment, medicine, mobility and Federal agencies.

 

National Federation of the Blind (NFB)
The NFB helps blind persons achieve self-confidence and self-respect and acts as a vehicle for collective self-expression by the blind. It provides public education about blindness, information and referral services, scholarships, literature and publications about blindness, adaptive equipment, advocacy services, and support for blind persons and their families.
National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS)
Through a national network of cooperating libraries, NLS administers a free library program of Braille and audio materials circulated to eligible borrowers in the United States by postage-free mail.
Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D)
RFB & D offers materials for anyone who cannot effectively read standard print because of a visual, perceptual, or other physical disability.
Friends of the Congressional Glaucoma Caucus Foundation
The Congressional Glaucoma Caucus is a non-partisan organization of members of the United States Congress.  Their mission is to educate communities about the risks of glaucoma and other blindness-causing eye diseases and to provide diagnostic screening opportunities for high risk glaucoma population groups.  PHONE: (516) 327-2236.  OR: (877) 611-4231.
National Eye Institute
The National Eye Institute supports research that helps prevent and treat eye diseases and other disorders of vision.  In addition, they develop public and professional education programs to help prevent blindess, reduce visual impairment, and increase awareness of the services and devices available for people with low vision.  PHONE:  (301) 496-5248.
National Glaucoma Research, a program of the American Health Assistance Foundation
This program was established to fund research on and educate the public about glaucoma.  TOLL FREE:  1-800-437-2423.
American Academy of Ophthalmology
The American Academy of Ophthalmology is the largest national membership association of Eye M.D.s. Eye M.D.s are ophthalmologists, medical doctors who provide comprehensive eye care, including medical, surgical and optical care. More than 90 percent of practicing U.S. Eye M.D.s are Academy members, and the Academy has more than 7,000 international members.

American Macular Degeneration Foundation

The American Macular Degeneration Foundation works for the prevention, treatment, and cure of macular degeneration through raising funds, educating the public and supporting scientific research.

American Optometric Association

Foundation Fighting Blindness
The urgent mission of The Foundation Fighting Blindness, Inc. (FFB) is to drive the research that will provide preventions, treatments and cures for people affected by retinitis pigmentosa (RP), macular degeneration, Usher Syndrome, and the entire spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases.
The Macular Degeneration Partnership
We are patients, families, researchers, physicians, industry partners and workers in the fields of vision and aging. The Macular Degeneration Partnership is an outreach program of the non-profit Discovery Eye Foundation. Our mission is to provide comprehensive, easily understood and up to the minute information about macular degeneration to the public through the Internet, telephone, public events and printed materials, to support research and to coordinate advocacy efforts.
National Association for the Visually Handicapped
NAVH is the only nonprofit health organization in the world solely dedicated to providing assistance to the partially sighted. We are committed to ensuring that impaired vision does not result in impaired life. Our mission is to help the "hard of seeing," worldwide cope with the psychological effects of visual impairment and to provide low vision services, visual aids and training to anyone in need of these services.
